UPDATE: Along with the pot luck style donations that members of the church bring for the main meal, there is a fairly good size list of items for breakfast and lunch that are needed to make this hosting week happen. If you’d like to help donate to that list click on the following link, or copy and paste the link into a browser window to pull up a SignUp Genius page where you can volunteer.

Room In The Inn (RITI) will begin its outreach to the homeless on November 25, and concluding in mid April. Through God’s ineffable provision, a dwelling has been obtained, just south of St. Andrew’s Church in Nags Head, to house RITI guests throughout this season.

Church of the Outer Banks is blessed to be able to host RITI December 23-30. We will serve guests at the Nags Head dwelling. A female overnight monitor has been secured who will reside at the residence, which means that we need only one male overnight monitor each evening as there is housing for 14 maximum capacity.

We will provide the evening meal, breakfast, and (self packed) lunch provisions daily.
In years past, evening meals have been provided via church groupings: Examples of this— 8:30 service, 10:10 service, Gill life group (Monday, December 24), women’s Bible study(s), men’s fellowship/study, vestry/missions. Group leaders: please be in touch for choosing an evening. Variety in meals will be coordinated.

A list of needed food items for breakfast and lunch will be provided in the next two weeks.
Evening meal coordination will take place once groups sign up.

We want to thank you right up front for all you are able to do to help this ministry, and especially this year. Christmas week is such a great week to be able to reach out and bless the life of someone who is less fortunate than we are. At the same time, it’s a busy time for all of us. Family gatherings, travel plans, and more, make the need for early planning so important. RITI is a great opportunity, at a time of the year when we feel very blessed, to teach younger family members about sharing abundance, and serving as Christ served. Something else to consider: This church is filled with people with huge hearts. Many people are involved in multiple ministries. Please contribute to one of these meals, and more only as you desire and are able. On Christmas night the Gill’s will be present to serve food, so there is only a need for food contributions. But, if you are free and want to come help, you’ll be welcome Fellowship and meal sharing with the guests are encouraged.
