Tropical Cyclone Pam hammered the South Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu on Saturday with winds of up to 176 m.p.h., damaging 90 percent of the buildings in the capital city of Port Vila and leaving thousands homeless. At least 11 people were killed. Samaritan’s Purse is rushing 70 tons of emergency aid to Vanuatu, including shelter materials, clean water and hygiene supplies, and cooling kits.  They are also sending a medical team to provide basic care to victims.   Pray for the emergency responders and for the people of Vanuatu. We will have a special offering this Sunday and next which we will send through Samaritan’s Purse. Pray that Christians there will be able to share with those affected that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
